Wiki Reflection:
I created my Wiki based on kindergarten curriculum. My kindergartners have been learning about the parts of a story. We have been creating story maps as a class. I thought it would be neat to change it up and use more technology than normal to expand their knowledge of the story elements. This wiki will enhance the learning in my classroom by providing me with a different way to introduce the material and allowing them to take a hold of their learning. They really enjoy the camera and video application on their iPads, so why not have them use the video application to record their findings. My students are not able to type comments, responses, or the information in to the wiki themselves. Instead, after the students complete their videos, I will create a new page and insert their videos into the wiki, allowing their work to be a part of the presentation.
When it comes to creating a Wiki, I really like that it is online. It is more accessible than a Word document that is saved to a jump drive. Anyone, anywhere, with internet access, can look it up and use it to learn. I also like that you can organize your thoughts on different pages. However, I still have not been able to figure out how to load the wiki presentation so it looks like a PowerPoint presentation. I have only found that I can click on the page links to the right of the site to view the pages. Each page does not seem to be in the correct order either. Maybe I am missing something, but it just doesn't seem organized enough for my young students to navigate through the webpage on their own.
